About The Keepers Lodge

Hidden away on the peaceful Llyn Peninsula in North West Wales, The Keeper’s Lodge is more than just a place to stay – it is a true escape from the modern world. Once part of the historic Madryn Estate, the land was known in Welsh as Ynys, meaning “Island”, because the River Geirch encircles it on every side. This sense of being set apart remains today: secluded, quiet, and surrounded only by sheep, cows, and an abundance of wildlife. There are no neighbours here – just the sounds of nature, the beauty of the mountains, and skies so clear that on cloudless nights you can enjoy spectacular stargazing.

A Family Home, A Family Welcome. The Keeper’s Lodge is proudly run by the Garton family, who moved to this special part of Wales over 25 years ago. Originally from Northamptonshire and Nottinghamshire, the family put down roots here, raising their children locally – children who are now fluent Welsh speakers and proud of their heritage. The Gartons have carefully nurtured the holding into what it is today: a welcoming retreat where guests can share in the peace, traditions, and beauty of rural Wales. When you arrive, you aren’t just booking accommodation – you are sharing in a family vision that has been created with love, care, and respect for the land.

The Lodge was originally built as a collection of traditional stone outbuildings, the property has been thoughtfully restored and extended to provide a balance of heritage character and modern comfort. Today, The Keeper’s Lodge offers, eight bedrooms, sleeping up to 20 guests, a heated swimming pool, perfect for summer days with family and friends. It is a place made for big family gatherings, milestone birthdays, hen parties, and celebratory getaways. Midweek the Lodge hosts groups training at The Shooting Academy. In the winter months, the lodge also plays host to French shooting parties, offering a convivial base for sporting guests.

Experiences to Remember…. The Keeper’s Lodge offers more than just beautiful accommodation – it is also home to a variety of unique experiences:
